Mission: Every class starts with a mission you are trying to complete. Can you get the job done? Only your greatest effort can determine the result. But remember, no battle plan survives contact with the enemy
Team: Most classes involve components of team work. Can you work together, communicate and overcome the challenges in order to succeed? Boot Camp classes have members working together to complete the overall mission instead of working to complete individual numbers. Maybe you'll solve a puzzle or a riddle - maybe you'll have to complete hundreds of reps of multiple exercises - who knows? The enemy comes at you with regular surprises.
Self: Take care of the mission and you'll take care of your own fitness. You'll lose weight, feel great and stay healthy. But remember your last concern during a mission is yourself. You must prioritize the mission in a safe, friendly and fun environment (if you are injured, alternatives can be given so you don't get hurt).
Outdoors: Training outdoors will connect you with nature and inspire you to be outside more often. You'll drag tires, carry gear, swing from monkey bars and all kids of fun activities!
Indoors: Training indoors (available at 1000 Brookfield Road Room 20) offers a wide range of training from individual drop-in Boot Camp 30-minute classes to Group Boot Camp based on members working together to accomplish class objectives. Kids Boot Camp programming is available to teach kids how to grow up mentally strong, eat well, build motor skills, work with others and stay fit and healthy!
Through the power of our community, the high-fives, the motivation, the comaraderie, don't be surprised if you find yourself taking part in a 5km mud race, doing paintball or throwing axes on the weekend.

Kay O'Shea - Ottawa "To say that Soldiers of Fitness has been a life-changer may seem a bit dramatic, but for me it truly has been. After letting myself get severely overweight and out of shape, I knew I had to do something. I was sore and ached all the time, suffered from migraines, and I was unhappy with myself. After a couple of weeks I could run all of the warm-up laps – still at the back, but not as far back. I could complete more repetitions of the exercises. Everything was so challenging and required so much effort that I watched everything that went into my mouth – I lost 15 pounds in that first month. My clothes were starting to feel loose. When the first month ended, I signed up for three more, and then again."
Robin Hawrish - Ottawa "I love this program because it pushes me physically and mentally in a way I was used to as a competitive athlete. I am constantly challenged to improve and set new goals. The members of the platoon are my team; we work hard together, we push each other to be better, we look out for one another and, we have fun working out together. We are challenged to complete tasks that can only be accomplished as a team, so no member of the team is left behind. This program is so much more than a gym membership could ever be."
Bridget Greene - Ottawa "I was terrified the first week, I have trouble going out of my comfort zone and get anxiety when in unfamiliar situations which was exactly what SOF was, but the troops were very welcoming and supportive of every fitness level. Being part of a group held me accountable for my fitness, I was part of a team now and if I slacked others would have to pick up that slack. It motivated me to work harder, push through my comfort zone and really see what I was capable of on my own as well as part of a team. I have lost 20-25 pounds since starting."
Anna Graham - Ottawa "I've never really enjoyed the typical gym membership experience; I wanted something a little more intensive. I thought I'd only join SOF for a couple months, but that was 9 months ago and I won't be stopping any time soon. The instructors provide excellent workouts, but for me the most important thing has been the strong team that gives me the motivation to get up early in the morning."
David Cybulski - Ottawa "I complete the MEC 30km Trail Race. Tune-up for Athletes classes have played an undeniable part in making me a stronger runner this year. I got plenty of stares as i went through our warm ups of arm circles, goal posts, and lumbar activations but the number of busted and broken runners I passed in the last 5k really made me realize how much stronger I've become. I've been that busted runner, it sucks. I'm recovering faster between workouts, and have had my longest injury free stretch since I began running 4yrs ago; despite running higher volumes than ever before."
